Mobile App Tech to Connect a Community

Zonamerica, a leading business and technology park in Uruguay and Colombia, faced a challenge: connecting with the 10,000+ individuals working within its 30+ buildings.  They needed a way to unify the park experience, offering seamless access to its diverse amenities and fostering a stronger sense of community.  We partnered with Zonamerica to create a mobile-first solution that transformed how people interact with the park.

The Challenge: Bridging the Gap with a Mobile App

Zonamerica boasts world-class companies and a vibrant atmosphere, but access to its various services—from mobility options like scooters to recreational activities and even office access—was fragmented.  The park sought a unified platform to streamline these experiences and enhance engagement within its community.

ZonaGo Mobile Development - Your Park in Your Pocket

We  developed ZonaGo, a mobile application seamlessly integrating Zonamerica's diverse offerings.  Built using React Native, ZonaGo provides a native-like mobile experience across both Android and iOS platforms.  The app needed to be robust, reliable, and user-friendly, connecting the virtual and physical worlds of the park.  Key challenges included synchronizing data with existing Zonamerica services, ensuring resilience against unexpected errors, and meeting the highest standards of usability, security, performance, availability, and accessibility.

To seamlessly integrate with the park's infrastructure, we leveraged IoT devices for real-time data collection and control.  These devices and the mobile app provide users with up-to-the-minute information and access.

The backend infrastructure supporting ZonaGo was developed using .NET and SQL Server.  This robust and scalable architecture ensures data integrity, handles the high volume of user interactions, and provides a secure foundation for future growth.

Leveraging Scrum practices and a phased approach, the development process began with a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and evolved through multiple releases for both Android and iOS.  Our DevOps team implemented automated deployment workflows for production and staging environments.

ZonaGo's initial features included user profiles, a news section, and push notifications.  We then expanded the app's functionality to include a Companies Portal, QR code-based office access, and integrated management of the park's electric scooters.  The scooter integration, in particular, presented a complex technical challenge, requiring extensive teamwork and consultation with global experts to enable seamless finding, booking, and unlocking.
