Regarding logistics and freight, there's no better event than those from Freight Waves. At these gatherings, you meet numerous colleagues and forge enduring relationships.

This year, we were among the new participants at the Future of Supply Chain conference, and what an event it was.

We delved into topics like 3PL, 4PL, TMS, and other critical logistics terms and metrics, gaining valuable insights into the industry's future. Despite current challenges like the oversupply-induced recession, we found reassurance in the industry's robust and unshakeable foundation.

Our experience at the Freight Waves conference in Atlanta, GA, has motivated us to visit Chattanooga, TN, the home of Freight Waves, during November to attend F3: Future of Freight Festival. We're excited to expand not only in size but also in knowledge and engagement.

In this article, we will share some of the hottest topics and main things we’ve learned from this experience (while we’re gearing up for the next one!)

The Key Takeaways

ELVs & Environment:

The environment is becoming increasingly crucial to any company's sustainability, and many inroads are being made into this sector. From electric trucks to eco-diesel, there is much going on.

UPS is taking charge of electric trucking on last-mile delivery but has also been debating its long-haul trucking operations and how it could pivot them towards electrification.

Biodiesel is on the rise, along with natural gas fire engines and potential hydrogen-powered motors; there has been much talk, and progress is following, although at a slower pace.

Software & Efficiency:

Improved tracking operations from companies such as Tag-N-Trac and other software monitoring solutions that track cargoes down to the pallet basis (and even sometimes with those pallets within the same warehouse). Those are excellent opportunities if you're looking for a nimble and versatile solution for any application.

Regarding digital paperwork processing, much was said about validating bills of lading, invoices, and other documentation that comes with cargo to ensure you're not being overbilled.

Major upgrades have been made to TMS systems, and new ones are being released. Companies are focusing on optimizing their bottom lines to ensure they are effective in the marketplace and ready to take on new challenges.

Numerous software vendors offered compelling insights into their platforms, integrations, and business models. However, one company stood head and shoulders above the rest: TAI Software. TAI has developed an exceptional application that seamlessly integrates all the essential features that brokers and third-party logistics providers (3PLs) desire.

TAI Software's TMS distinguishes itself through technological prowess, innovation and its tangible impact on the logistics sector.
